With a new school year, OCSA has brought in a few new teachers. Through these first two weeks, many students have gotten to interact with the new teachers, but for those who haven’t, here’s a chance to get to know them better!

 

Mrs. Austin: Creative Writing and English

How many years have you been teaching?

Austin: This is my 18th year of teaching.

What school did you teach at before?

Austin: Osceola High School.

What do you teach now?

Austin: Creative writing, acting, and English.

What Hogwarts house are you?

Austin: My Daughter says that I’m a Hufflepuff…I don’t even know what Hufflepuff is.

 

Mr. McCain: Language Arts and Reading

How many years have you been teaching?

McCain: 15

What school did you teach at before?

McCain: Celebration K-8

What do you teach now?

McCain: Middle School language arts and intensive reading.

If you could have one superpower what would it be?

McCain: Teleportation.

Are there rules on that? Would you be able to teleport other with you?

McCain: Yes, I could teleport others with me.

 

Ms. Yakar: World Language

How many years have you been teaching?

Yakar: This is my twelfth year.

What school did you teach at before?

Yakar: I taught at Lake Worth Community High School in West Palm Beach.

What do you teach now?

Yakar: Spanish and French.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?

Yakar: Probably…to be honest, Caribbean Cruises, Mexico, Cozumel, Costa Maya, the French Riviera, but only on a cruise.

 

Mr. Barra: Math

How many years have you been teaching?

Barra: 21 years.

What school did you teach at before?

Barra: Parkland Middle School.

What do you teach now?

Barra: Math. Algebra intensive and 7th grade advanced.

If you could participate in a major here at OCSA which one would you be in?

Barra: Talent-wise? None, I’m good at math. I’m not a good Writer, Singer, Dancer Instrument player, and not even close at Tech.

 

 

Mr. Walsh: Physical Science 

How many years have you been teaching?

Walsh: 12

What school did you teach at before?

Walsh: Horizon Middle School.

What do you teach now?

Wash: For Eleven years I taught Earth Science, but now I teach Physical Science.

If you won the lottery today, what is the first thing you would do?

Walsh: Wow, you put me on the spot with that one…I’d buy a boat.

Any particular boat? A Yacht?

Walsh: No, no, just a regular boat, so I can go on lakes.
