Last weekend, five students from the OCSA Speech and Debate team secured a spot at the the NCFL National Debate after placing at the National Qualifiers Debate at Trinity Preparatory School.

The team of 14 students engaged in 5 hours of competitive speaking and 8 hours of competitive debating, all in the hopes of earning a spot for the National tournament in Chicago. This year, the team is sending five students to the national tournament in Chicago in May.

The teacher of these debate students, Ms. Apryl Taylor, says she is excited for what the team will accomplish. “Words cannot express how proud I am of the entire team for all the work they have put in this year to represent our school in Florida,” she states. The team is currently working to better their skills for the competition in May, and will be fundraising and practicing in anticipation of their trip.
