On March 10th from 4:15 to 5:45 pm, OCSA will celebrate one of the most well known and beloved numbers, 3.14. March 14, also known as International Pi Day (3.14, π ) is a day noted by math enthusiasts around the world.

But what is π, anyway? Divide any circle’s circumference by its diameter; the answer is always approximately 3.14, a number we represent with the Greek letter π. Founded in 1988 at the Exploratorium, Pi (π) Day has become an international holiday, celebrated live and online all around the world.

Activities will include entertainment, snacks, and awards. There will also be a mega Kahoot game. The event will be open to students at any grade level. Mrs.Lindsey, 9th grade math teacher and coordinator for the event, says, “It’s going to be a very fun night and we hope a lot of people will join!” Mrs. Lindsey also said there will be a grand prize for the person who is able to come and recite the most digits of Pi from memory, so make sure you come prepared!
