Aly Raisman, as well as an additional 140 women who came foreward earlier this year, accused the  former U.S.A. gymnastics doctor, Larry Nassar, of sexual assault. Raisman along with several other women has criticized the disgraced gymnastics league for knowing about the assaults and refusing to take action against the doctor. Raisman cites her reason for suing, “to push for change, so future generations of athletes will be safe.” Raisman’s legal team argues that, if proper procedure was followed, Nassar would not have had the opportunity to molest hundreds of people.

The first male gymnast has joined the suit against Nassar, the claim alleges that Jacob Moore was treated several times at Nassar’s house, where the former doctor “pulled down Plaintiff Jacob Moore’s pants, exposing his genitalia,” even though Moore was being treated for shoulder pain. The suit seeks injunctive, declaratory, and monetary relief for the injuries caused.

As a result of the accusations the former CEO, Steve Penny has resigned along with Chairman Paul Parilla, Vice-Chairman Jay Binder, Treasurer Bitsy Kelly, and other members of the organization. The U.S.A. gymnastics league and U.S.A. Olympic Committee continue to receive backlash as more evidence of their inaction comes forth.
