After a two month search the body of missing CDC worker, Timothy Cunningham was found on the west bank of the Chattahoochee River, northwest of Atlanta. Throughout his lifetime, Cunningham received notable recognition for his work with the CDC and was recognized as one of The Atlanta Business Chronicles’ “40 under 40.” He had been promoted to commander in United States public safety in July. Cunningham received an “exceptional proficiency promotion.”

The chief medical examiner determined the cause of death was drowning, but they are still waiting on toxicology results that would confirm how Cunningham drowned, and if it was an accident. Authorities noted that they had searched the area where the body was found in February; the site was not far from the victim’s house. The police have stated that there is no evidence of foul play.

Cunningham was an epidemiologist at the federal agency. His family reported him missing on February 16 after finding his house vacant. He was found with three gems in his pocket. The police have offered a $15,000 reward to anyone with information.
