On Sunday, October 14th, the Vocal Department will be hosting the Veteran’s showcase “A Salute from the Dark Side” from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the auditorium. This performance is to honor all veterans that have served our nation.

It will include various performances from the Vocal, Drama, and Music Departments that will have Star Wars as its theme. This year’s theme is unique. Lisa Testa, one of the Directors for the Vocal Department, said, “We have done a veterans show for 14 years and each year we chose a different kind of style …. in 2016 we used the a galactic salute Star Wars and the 501st enjoyed it so much that have thought of bringing it back this year.” The idea of the theme is to have the bad guys from the franchise do good things like helping the veterans that serve them. It is a great theme and vision to convey in the show, as they are soldiers who have done a lot for our nation.

In addition, the showcase will have a Darth Vader meet and greet where you can take pictures with the villain, which will be a blast for those who wish to attend. The tickets for this showcase are $10 per adult, $5 per student, and free for any veterans (you don’t need to show ID). Tickets can be purchased on MySchoolBucks.com, which can be found on the school website.

At the end of the day the Veteran’s show has a bigger meaning to everyone than just performances. Testa elaborated on this, stating “All these freedoms that we have here in the United States because we have fought for them over the years, so thanking those veterans who try to keep us safe and keep the world safe that is part of why we do it.”

Be sure to watch the show, we hope to see you there!
