CDC Meeting Over Pfizer Vaccine
November 5, 2021
On November 2nd, 2021, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) director, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, has approved the recommendation for 5-11 year old’s to be vaccinated for COVID-19 following a 14-0 vote by the CDC Advisory Committee in favor of the vaccine. This is a massive step towards the recovery of the country as a whole against the pandemic.
Due to the decision, an estimated 28 million children are allowed to receive vaccination via their healthcare provider. President Biden has given a glowing review of this action, stating that the action itself is “a turning point in our battle against COVID-19.”
Biden stated that “A vaccine for children age 5 to 11 will allow us to build on the extraordinary progress we’ve made over the last nine months. Already, more than 78 percent of Americans age 12 and older have gotten at least one shot, including millions of teenagers — and the vaccines have proven to be incredibly safe and effective.”
And, for that matter, it’s likely accurate. Walensky claims that “together, with science leading the charge, we have taken another important step forward in our nation’s fight against the virus that causes COVID-19.” Whether or not this is to be required for the age category when relating to schools and the like has yet to be made clear.
Any and all vaccinations for minors from the age group of 5-11 can acquire their vaccinations at their local provider and/or pediatrician as of today. The dosage of the vaccine is a third of what adults gets, and will be administered 3 weeks apart. The side-effects are yet to be discerned.
