On Tuesday, November 20th, Kenny Wells a 42-year-old man was accused of firing a gun at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, in Georgia.

Wells was causing a disturbance in the airport after he chose not to comply with security. Shortly after, they found that he wasn’t complying due to the possession of a firearm, specifically, a 9-millimeter pistol. The gun was detected in an X-ray during an inspection by Transportation Security Administration (TSA). According to Yahoo News, “The transportation security officer advised the passenger not to touch the property, and as he opened the compartment containing the prohibited item.” Wells then lunged to grab the weapon and fired it. The suspect fled the site and was on the run for a week. While he was on the run, security reported that on November 23rd they found the firearm in a trash can in the airport.

On November 30th, Wells turned himself into Clayton County Jail. He was charged with, the carrying of a weapon at an airport, discharging a firearm on the property of another and the possession of a firearm, and reckless conduct. Wells himself claimed that firing the gun was an accident, but the case is still being investigated.
