Halo infinite is one of the best reviewed Halo games in recent years

Halo: Infinite officially came on December 8th. After nearly four years of waiting since its announcement in 2018, Halo Infinite came in swinging the doors open with almost unanimous positive reviews! But this was not always the case. For quite a while, since 2010, with the release of Halo: Reach, the once nearly united community behind the franchise split with two main points of views. One point of view wanted the franchise to stick to its roots and avoid popular trends, the other wanted the franchise to become more mainstream. Both sides have advantages and disadvantages.

This for a long time has caused a toxic environment within the Halo community. The later release of Halo 4 in 2012, created by a different company named, 343 Industries, only added flame to the fuel. Taking the more mainstream decisions made in Halo reach, (Like pre-determined load outs, sprint, individual power abilities, etc.) and doubling down on them. Halo 4 also made a drastic change to the art style, making it more sci-fi and less grounded, widening the rift within the community even more.

Halo 5: Guardians, released in 2015, took the sci-fi approach even further, with game changing additions like unlimited sprint, thruster packs, spartan charge, ground pound, removing the de-scoping mechanic, and more. And while the multiplayer was received more welcoming to the mainstream audiences, it was mostly agreed on both sides that halo was losing its sense of identity. With the only thing remotely comparable to the older games was the character Master Chief.

This is when Halo infinite comes in. After years of silence and years of speculation, and a yearlong delay, the game drops and for once in over a decade, The Halo and the outer gaming community almost all agreed that this game is awesome. Positive reviews on both the campaign and the multiplayer with only a few main complaints with the micro-transactions and progression system.

“The end of one great journey is, in many ways, just the start of another. That much is true of Halo Infinite, which is now finally in your hands. The next movement of the Master Chief’s odyssey has arrived, so step inside and become humanity’s legendary hero to take the fight to the Banished on Zeta Halo – we hope you enjoy your stay!” Said Alex Wakeford, a community writer at 343 Industries.
