Ghislaine Maxwell Guilty of Sex Trafficking
January 10, 2022
Ghislaine Maxwell, age 60 and British socialite, is known most frequently for her association with Jeffery Epstein, notorious financier and sex convict. She herself has been heavily involved in the trafficking ring that had Epstein at the head way, through photographs and records, however she pleaded not guilty to the court.
Recently however, Maxwell has been found guilty on five out of the six counts she was charged with. Although not guilty on enticing a minor to travel to engage in illegal sex acts, she was found guilty on the other five of the six.
- Count one: Conspiracy to entice minors to travel to engage in illegal sex acts.
- Count three: Conspiracy to transport minors with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.
- Count four: Transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.
- Count five: Conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of minors.
- Count six: Sex trafficking of minor.
Maxwell is facing up to 65 years in prison and is currently in a position to be a gateway to the rest of the culprits in the mass sex trafficking issue. The prosecutors themselves stated that they “think it’s just absolutely unbelievable and implausible that Ghislaine Maxwell herself was somehow a victim or somehow didn’t realize what was going on.”
Of course, the defense is claiming that she was a scapegoat and/or victim of this case; the entire case and sentence may fall flat due to one chink in the should-be armor of this. One jury member spoke on his history of sexual abuse, thus making the jury biased as per the defense claim. There will likely be a recall for the trial, some experts say, although the information on that count varies.
Regardless of what may happen, her guilty verdict has been largely set in stone, and many are hoping that it will bring solace to the victims of the “Lolita Express,” the sex trafficking ring that involved Jeffery Epstein.
