Orlando Nazi Rallies Occur in Florida
January 31, 2022
On Sunday, January 30th, there were multiple rallies in Orlando that Nazis held as an organized protest spreading a message of hate. They were targeting the Jewish Community in Orlando and anyone else against their beliefs.
This was a planned effort by local Nazis groups in the Orlando area, with two confirmed rallies around Alafaya Trail and Waterford Lakes Parkway. At the same time, another rally was held in Daryl Carter Parkway Overpass on I-4. There was a physical fight between the Nazi Demonstrators and a passersby at the first rally, which resulted in police being contacted, but no arrests were made.
Although these are hateful rallies, the Orange County Sheriff Office has come up with a statement. “The Orange County Sheriff’s Office deplores hate speech in any form, but people have the First Amendment right to demonstrate.” Even though the first rallies may have been legal, the second rally in Daryl Carter Parkway has legal issues as the Florida Highway Patrol stated, “It is against the law to obstruct highway traffic or hang signs on the overpasses and violators will be prosecuted.”
After these rallies, there would be unanimous condemnation from both Republicans and Democrats at the local and state level. When people attempted to get Ron DeSantis to respond to this situation on Twitter, the press secretary for Governor DeSantis, Christina Pushaw, posted a now-deleted tweet stating, “Do we even know they’re Nazis? Or is this a Stunt like the “white nationalist” who crashed the Youngkin rally in Charlottesville and turned out to be Dem staffers? I trust Florida law enforcement to investigate and am awaiting their conclusions.”
After Orange County Police confirmed they were Nazis and online backlash, Pushaw would backtrack this statement with an apology. But she would tweet back against anyone talking about her previous deleted tweet or condemning these rallies from the Political left.
