Donald Trump, former president, held a rally last Saturday in Texas. Following the Capitol Hill riots in 2021, being based around the false accusation that the election had been rigged in favor of current President Joe Biden. Although his first term was met with much disapproval from oppositional parties, his potential second term in the 2024 seat for office has been met with a sizable number of worries throughout the country.

This fear, although formerly at a constant level, has increased due to the statements Trump made at the Saturday rally. Trump vows to pardon all Capitol Hill insurrectionists and rioters, claiming that the rioters are being treated “so unfairly.” Along with this he stated that “if I run and if I win, we will treat those people from January 6 fairly. We will treat them fairly.” His pledges also involved a call for his supporters to demonstrate against those who are probing Trump’s business practice, and a need for his supporters to continue to perpetuate the falsehood that Trump had won the 2020 election.

Despite his vows, criminal and congressional investigations are ongoing, and key documents in the case are no longer hidden. Additionally, his beliefs that the election was rigged led to a statement against former Vice President Mike Pence, falsely, that the vice president had the power to sway the election in his favor and heavily slandering him for his “refusal” to do so.

Although the 2024 election is a way off from now, eyes continue to sway between candidates and a close watch continues strong until then.
