The extravagant murder-mystery show Criminal Minds returns for another season. The show aired from 2005-2020; however, with a push from fans, the Criminal Minds cast will return for a sixteenth season.

The series follows a team of FBI agents who work for the BAU (Behavioral Analysis Unit) using their knowledge of profiling to investigate murders, kidnapping, and more.

For this season the team will investigate one single case in the span of 10 episodes. This differs from previous seasons, usually one case per episode. The rumored returning cast includes:

  • Joe Mantegna as David Rossi
  • Aisha Tyler as Dr. Tara Lewis
  • Mathew Gray Gubler as Dr. Spencer Reid
  • Adam Rodriguez as Luke Alvez
  • Daniel Henney as Matt Simmons
  • AJ Cook as JJ
  • Paget Brewster as Emily Prentiss

SPOILER: It is suspected that Kirsten Vangsness (Penelope Garcia) will return, however this is controversial since at the end of season 15 she leaves the BAU to work elsewhere.

The president of Paramount+ stated, “We are still very much in development on Criminal Minds. We’ll have more to share on that soon but it is alive and well.” The date for the reboot has not been confirmed but is estimated to air by late 2022 or early 2023.

The original cast of criminal minds (2005) included AJ Cook (JJ), Mathew Gray Gubler (Spencer Reid), Thomas Gibson (Aaron Hotchner), Mandy Patinkin (Jason Gideon), Lola Glaudini (Elle Greenaway), Shemar Moore (Derek Morgan), and Kirsten Vangsness (Penelope Garcia).
