A Florida man was recently arrested and charged with a felony on aggravated animal cruelty after kicking swans in Lake Eola while practicing Karate in the early morning.  Rocco Montella, 34, was witnessed by several individuals to have kicked two swans in the head and one in the back while laughing after seeing witness reactions. Witnesses also report Montella kicking a small sleeping duck. Police said the kicks were made “as hard as possible… with full understanding of the pain and damage inflicted.” David Camp, an observer of the crime added, “I guess he was, like, [practicing] karate kicks or something, and just, like, at one point, he just kicked it right in the head. And I was like what was this guy doing?” In the summer of 2016, an off-duty officer in the same park reported another incident of animal harassment involving the swans. Montella was transported to an Orange County jail on 1,000 dollar bond. Police are monitoring the health of the affected animals.
