On Thursday, April 26, Caleb Ray was playing soccer with his friends when he told his father “Daddy, I can’t see.” He fell to the ground and began shaking uncontrollably. Paramedics quickly arrived at the scene but it was too late for the young Caleb, he was already dead. Aside from a heart murmur and slight asthma, Caleb was in good medical condition.

Caleb’s mother Kristin said, “You hear about it happening a million miles away to somebody else in another state, you don’t know the situation. You never think it’s going to happen to your kids or even anyone you know.”

Kristin and her husband Ryan now spend most of their time and money into working with local politicians to make sport establishments in the area much safer by adding defibrillators among other medical equipment. The Ray family has also been raising awareness of the dangers of not having the proper medical equipment ready for use.
