Woman Killed At Kissimmee Motel

43 year old, Maria Santiago-Burgos was shot and killed by her boyfriend at a Super 8 Motel late Thursday evening. According to witnesses, 38 year old Leumas Moraza moved with his girlfriend Maria to Kissimmee after leaving the hurricane-devastated Puerto Rico. After a heated argument in which Moraza pointed his gun at Burgos, she tried to disarm him, resulting only her being shot three times, her children and mother witnesses in the same room.

Carmen Santiago, another Puerto Rican woman staying at the motel said, “I panicked because you don’t expect any of that. These walls are like paperboard and the ceiling is more or less the same. Then I heard a woman come out and say, ‘Please help my daughter, help my daughter!’”

Shortly after the incident, Moraza walked down to the local police station and cooperated with local detectives.

“I was just arguing with my girlfriend and I shot her. I just want the police to pick me up, that’s it,” said Moraza.

He’s been charged with domestic homicide and assault with a deadly weapon.
