US Texas border patrol agents working near the Rio Grande witnessed three individuals trying to enter the country, one of which was carrying a small, black duffel bag. When they saw the Border Patrol Agents approaching, they dropped the Duffel Bag and ran back to Mexico, according to KHOU TV.

According to CNN, when the officers examined the duffel bag, they were shocked to discover an unconscious male tiger stuffed inside.

The tiger, estimated to be around four months old, was turned over to the Gladys Porter Zoo in Brownsville. The tiger is expected to make a full recovery, according to CBS News.

The Gladys Porter Zoo also gave an update on the baby tiger on social media Tuesday:

“The tiger cub found at the border in a duffel bag and in poor condition is now under the care of our veterinary staff,” the Zoo said on Twitter. “Our team acted quickly to stabilize him and he is now doing very well. The next step will be to find him a more permanent home.”
