OCSA’s Student Government Association!
April 21, 2023
It’s time to make a difference at OCSA! Elections for student government are underway, and they are looking for dedicated students to represent our student body.
Being a part of OSCA’s SGA (Student Government Association) is an excellent opportunity to develop leadership skills, make a positive impact on our school’s community, and create meaningful relationships with fellow students.
If you’re interested in being a part of the student government, here are a few things to consider!
You can apply to be a part of SGA from April 17th to April 21st. There are several important requirements to be considered for the run, such as a 3.0 GPA, no academic or art probation on record, and participation in extra-curriculars.
Students interested in filling out the SGA’s forms can find them within the pink QR codes listed around the school, as well on the front of many teachers’ doors. You can also visit their Instagram page (@ocsasga). The link to run is included in the bio.
The Executive Board, which includes the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Historian, is one of the positions that you can run for. When running for different boards, the roles are more specific. In the Senate, each of our eight majors has one art representative, and each grade has one class representative. Unfortunately, seniors aren’t able to participate in running.
Running for creative writing’s art representative this year is junior Amy Calvo! About her campaign, Amy states, “I’m very excited to be in the running for Creative Writing representative! As a junior, having the opportunity to be involved in OCSA senior year is a great way to bid goodbye to a school that’s helped me grow in my art. Whatever happens, I’m just honored to have the opportunity to be considered.”
Voting will likely begin on May 1st and end on May 5th, after the candidates are approved.
Don’t miss out on the chance to get involved at OCSA! If you have ideas for change that you want to bring to life at our school, running for SGA is the opportunity you’ve been looking for.
