Chicago is a show with a more mature theme, with the main character, Roxie Hart, being put on trial for murder of her lover. Trying to prove herself innocent, while also attempting to achieve her dream of becoming famous in the process.
The auditions started out with nearly 100 people acting, dancing, and singing their hearts out. It shrunk down to nearly half that for callbacks. Mr. Clegg posted the cast list on Friday, 9/8, and many people have already talked about wanting to see it. Mr. Clegg said his favorite part of the auditioning process is “seeing all the talent at OCSA. Regardless of major, regardless of grade, and seeing them put their best foot forward.”
Mr. Clegg is also working with the wonderful Mr. Herzog and Ms. Perendy, some of the schools Vocal and Dance directors. With Ms. Perendy to help choreograph, and Mr. Herzog to help perfect the singing, it is going to be an amazing show. Mr. Molineaux also held auditions for band and violinists in orchestra for the show. As one of the most appealing factors of the show entails the band being onstage with the actors during the performance.
Eleventh grade drama major, Alexander Persaud, plays Billy Flynn in the production. When asked what the audience should know about Chicago, Persaud replied “Chicago is a fantastic show with lots of astonishing choreography, music, and writing; there is no way you will not LOVE it.”
The show dates are November 2nd and November 3rd, so mark your calendars! You will not want to miss it!
