The Standard Aptitude Test (SAT) is a standardized test given to upperclassmen high school students that allows them to display their math, reading, and writing skills. OCSA seniors took the SAT on October 11, 2023, at the Expo Hall. This SAT was paid for by the district, and all students were expected to report to their assigned seats at 9:30 AM at their designated testing areas.
OCSA Testing Coordinator, Jeanine Lindsey, encourages students to study and practice for the SAT. “Khan Academy is a great way to practice for the SAT,” Ms. Lindsey stated in an interview. Khan Academy is a website designed to show students the level they are at in each of the exam’s sections. The platform is directly connected with the SAT, offering past tests to take as practice.
The SAT scores from the 11th will be released on November 1, 2023. Students will use their scores in college and scholarship applications. Different colleges require different scores, so it is advised to have those scores in mind as a goal. “Go in positive, well rested, and have breakfast!” Ms. Lindsey advises all students to do this before they enter testing. She recommends remaining positive when scores come out as well. The SAT can be taken multiple times, allowing for super scoring to improve a student’s overall score.
All testing dates can be seen on college board. Students can register and view deadlines, along with extension registrations on college board, as well. Next testing date available is on November 4 and the registration deadline has been extended to October 24.
