President Trump admitted in an interview with Fox and Friends’ Ainsley Earhardt, aired Thursday, August 23rd, that if his role in the presidency was ever impeached, the stock market would crash and “everybody would be very poor.” According to CBS News, Trump stated, “I don’t know how you can impeach somebody who’s done a great job. If I ever got impeached, I think the market would crash, I think everybody would be very poor. Because without this thinking [points to head] you would see, you would see numbers that you wouldn’t believe in reverse.”

Mr.Trump has long been crediting his administration’s ability to create a flourishing economic incline, thanking the country’s success to it’s GOP tax cut plan, trade deals, and cutting government regulations. Also, when asked about his former Democratic competitor, Hilary Clinton, he responded saying that if she had been “elected instead”, the country’s stance in the economy would not be how it is now, but worse. Trump’s statement comes after ideas and questions of impeachment have been raised by Paul Manafort, former Trump campaign chairman, and Michael Cohen, Trump’s attorney have been found guilty on several federal charges. On the other hand, it’s already been stated by top Democrats, including Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and Senator Dick Durbin, that proposals for impeachment are not considered a priority and “premature at the time.”
