On Friday, December 8, 2023, OCSA’s prom committee will host an all-day holiday dress down.
Sponsored by Mrs. Smith, the dress down day costs $2 dollars in cash to participate. The event is inspired by the school-wide holiday show, so students are encouraged to wear anything holiday related. Pajamas, ugly sweaters, costumes, and formal wear of any holiday are acceptable.
The dress down day is conveniently set for the day of OCSA’s Holiday Extravaganza: Home for the Holidays. The event will be hosted in the auditorium at 6:30 P.M. for the cost of $10. The dress down is meant to spark holiday spirit between the student body and teachers alike. Since the dress down is on the same day of show, Mrs. Smith wants to remind students to not forget their performance attire. “As a reminder, I would like students to remember that the dress down day is the same day as the show,” began Mrs. Smith. “If your teacher needs you to be dressed a certain way, bring a change of clothes.”
The event is being held as a fundraiser for this year’s Junior and Senior prom. Prom is commonly an expensive event, with this year’s budget for just the venue at $22,000- $25,000. Laura Sandoval, one of the Junior Prom chairs states, “We plan to use the money towards decorations, the venue and food. Honestly, wherever Mrs. Smith sees fit.”
