OCSA takes the wins at Osceola County’s District Solo & Ensemble. Ms. Rochelle Mabrich, OCSA’s orchestra teacher, led her grade 6-12 Orchestra to victory as 26 of her students received rankings such as “Excellent’s,” “Superior’s,” and one “Superior with Distinction.”
Osceola County’s District Solo & Ensemble takes place twice a school year, one time in the Winter and one time in the Spring. The point of District Solo & Ensemble is to show off your skills, so you can try to get into the State Solo & Ensemble. The better your ranking, the more likely you are to get into the State Solo & Ensemble.
Three students: Helena Crosby, Maria Arellano Bustos, and Tristan Evans received “Excellent’s.” Twenty-five students: Rasha Chowdhury, Arturo Godoy Clavier, Sophie Simancas Perez, Paula Morales, Julia Ximenes, Riley Bullock, Gia Rivero, Joseilys Quinones, Cristopher Bulger, Maximo Chiappe, Cedric Riberon, Rafaela Avolio, Kiera Behrend, Kate Hernandez, Sofia Diaz Toro, Isabella Cuellar, Giovanna Colombini, Patricia Armas Vargas, and Nyah Roman all received “Superior’s.”
But one violin player, Valeria Tatis Perez, stood out the most at the event. She was the only student at OCSA and the entire district of Osceola County to receive the highest possible ranking: “Superior WITH DISTINCTION.” Valeria exclaimed that she was “I was surprised… I felt proud of myself.”
Most of the students who received “Superior’s” will be attending the State Solo & Ensemble. So, good luck to those attending, and congratulations to those who received their remarkable rankings!
