Director of Fine Arts, Patricia Calderon, is celebrating the opening of a new show Thursday evening at CityArts Factory! The show will feature OCSA visual artists from as far back as 2007 to current students. She has curated the show in her mind for a while, now she has made it a reality, and what better time to undertake such a task than the year of OCSA’s 20th Anniversary?
The show, Release, Return: Reflections of Who We Are, is a cultivation of art from past and current OCSA Visual Artists. Calderon herself has been at OCSA since the very beginning and personally worked with everyone whose art will be showcased at the gallery. “After 20 years of teaching art,” Calderon says, “I have come across many personalities. These people, no matter what year they graduated, would feel connected through the love of one common thread-their passion to express themselves- their love of art.”
Release Return’s… opening reception is this Thursday, February 15, 6:00pm to 9:00pm, and admission is free. The show is also part of a tradition from CityArts to have a monthly rotation of galleries opening on the third Thursday of each month. When asked what the inspiration for her to curate this particular show was, Calderon responded, “My wish of having them together in one space in the form of an art reunion.” For her, this show is about showcasing the excellence of students from the past alongside of current visual artists.
Dress up and show up to the gallery at CityArts Orlando 39 S. Magnolia Ave. Orlando, FL 32801 to witness the newest evolution of art.
