Taylor Swift received her 4th Album of the Year Grammy last night during the 66th annual Grammys. This breaks the world record for the amount of time any artist has received the Album of the Year Award. She was tied with legendary artists such as Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, and Paul Simon before receiving her award. Once receiving her award, Taylor marched on stage and announced her new album. This surprise album, titled The Tortured Poets Department, will be released on April 19, 2o24.

Swift’s fans, often referred to as Swifties, were shocked at the announcement, since many had been anticipating a different announcement. Swift has been re- records her previous albums, due to legal complications. Reputation (Taylor’s Version) had been rumored to be the next announcement.  However, Swift finds herself releasing her second brand new album despite the continuous release of her other albums.

Throughout the internet, various theories have been made by Swifties. Some speculate that the album might reference her previous relationship with English Actor, Joe Alwyn, while others argue it will be similar to folklore and evermore and be in a storytelling format. Mixed emotions of shock, excitement, and curiosity have flooded the internet since she has been keeping this album a secret for 2 years.

“It’s just remarkable to see the amount of effort she puts into her art, especially as an art student, it is very admirable,” Evelyn Tippett, 10th-grade creative writer and passionate Swiftie states in an interview. As a loyal fan, Tippett shares her feelings on this groundbreaking news. “There are a lot of questions up in the air, but I have a feeling that this is going to be one of my new favorite albums. I am so excited for April 19!”
