Spoken Word Night will be taking place here at OCSA in the Expo Hall on Tuesday, April 9th, from 6:00 PM- 8:30 PM. Admission is free, and donations are accepted at the door.
Spoken Word is an event that gives students from any major the opportunity to share their art. Students can speak on any topic through their poetry. The signup sheets are available in Mr. Capley’s room, our Creative Writing teacher in Portable 3, or in Ms. Kastner’s room, one of our ELA teachers in room 4-105. Spoken Word has a limit of 30 students, so make sure you get your spot soon. There is no time limit on how long you can perform but aim for your piece to be about 10 minutes or less.
“It was really cool… everyone there was really supportive, and I loved being able to not only share my art but to see all the other people at this school sharing what they really love to do,” said Caitlyn Lungstrum, a 9th grade Creative Writer who performed at Spoken Word last year. Even if you haven’t signed up, you can still prepare a back pocket piece to perform if there’s extra time. There’s always be room for more inspiration, so come support the Creative Writing department and get wordy with it!
