As you move up in the world, you start to realize that bringing your backpack everywhere isn’t always the most attractive option for carrying your things. So, you decide to buy your first grown-up bag- now what do you put in it? Whether you’re carrying a crossbody, a tote, or maybe just a nice-looking backpack, here’s a comprehensive everyday bag packing guide to ensure you’re always prepared for whatever the world throws at you.
- Your phone, keys, wallet, along with any IDs or other valuables you may need
- Anything you need for school or work, like your laptop, notebooks, stationary, etc.
- Deodorant and perfume (perfume samples are great)
- Makeup for touch ups, like lip balm, lipstick, and a powder compact
- Snacks! Avoid things that can melt or get crushed, if possible
- Headphones or ear buds
- Gum or mints
- First aid kit (antibiotic ointment, bandages, cough drops, painkillers, antacids, and a packet of Emergen-C)
- A reusable water bottle
- Pocket tissues
- Lint roller (a must if you wear dark colors)
- Hand sanitizer (can also be hung on your bag with a special holder)
- Pen and mini notebook or memo pad
- Hair ties and hair clips (or bobby pins for all you dancers)
This list is just a few ideas to get you started: there are lots of other things that are great to have in your bag. Do you always forget to moisturize in between your busy schedule? Throw in some hand cream and lotion. Do you wear glasses or sunglasses out? Bring a case and some lens cleaning supplies with you. “A mini screwdriver is a must if you wear glasses,” said Jillian Jenks, a senior Creative Writer. Also, don’t be afraid to decorate your bag! Buttons, pins, keychains, or even more crafty ways of decorating like embroidery and painting are all great ways to make your bag unique.
