Crocs are a popular footwear choice for students on campus. Whether you’re going to a theme park, going a walk, or even going to school, these outdoor shoes are known for their hardy nature. Their ability to withstand water and heat make them a beloved shoe to many people. But according to some Crocs owners, these shoes have been shrinking when exposed to these same conditions. In late November of 2022, The Class Action Crocs Lawsuit was filed in the state of California, led by Ruby Cornejo and Martha Valentine.
Due to the misinterpretations of Crocs, they claimed that this product violates the Consumer Legal Remedies Act, which protects customers from fraud, false advertising, and other unfair business practice. “As an avid wearer of crocs, I feel as if you were misled,” said Cristopher Bulger, sophomore orchestra major. Though this lawsuit has been going on for 2 years, it finally receives legal action. In the past, Crocs has dismissed two claims made by class action. But California Judge, Trina Thompson denied another 4 attempts from Crocs. As of April 5th, 2024, federal judge Trina Thompson gave the green light to move forward with this lawsuit, making an official case in California. Summers may never be the same here at OCSA.
