Starting off the new school year at OCSA, we have been introduced to many new staff members, new students, teachers, and (most importantly) new assistant principals. This year we have welcomed with open arms, two new assistant principals into our school, Dr. Eugenia Rolando and Mrs. Lana Tessler.
Dr. Rolando was born in Argentina, she kicked off her teaching career by earning her bachelor’s for teaching English as a foreign, second language. As she was getting more passionate about education, she went to Grand Canyon to earn her master’s online, then she received her doctorate at American College of Education from 2016-2019. She’s been to many places, since she enjoys traveling and hiking up trails and mountains. “I have been in Mexico, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, and the United States,” Dr. Rolando said. She has one son who’s currently studying mechanical engineering. Her son’s previous attendance at OCSA and passion for the arts in a motivated atmosphere, Dr. Rolando wanted to be a part of that too. She comes to OCSA with a mission to help students succeed in their majors. “My goal, first of all, to learn about the school and to serve it in a way that students maximize their potential in their major, but also academically to be prepared for the next step,” she explained.
Mrs. Tessler was born in New Hampshire, where she started her teaching career when she attended college in Boston. Now in her 21st year of education, she started teaching in high schools in her hometown. After sixteen years, she moved to Florida to escape the cold weather to live with her fiancĂ© (now husband) and two cats. While she started teaching as an English teacher, she became an English coach, and then a dean. She strives to guide students through their education and arts. “I have a really strong passion for the arts, it’s this thing that I’ve always wanted to be involved in,” she said. Mrs. Tessler became attracted to OCSA because of the passion our students have in their art and education. “My goal here at OCSA is to be the best assistant principal I can for you guys, to make sure that you always have someone to talk to for issues and for the teachers to be able to go to someone if they need help with anything,” Mrs. Tessler explained.
Both of our new assistant principals come to OCSA’s campus with a mission to make a change here and help the students and staff. Be sure to say hi if you see them out and about!
