With Percy Jackson being officially green-lit for season 2, blue-food enjoyers everywhere are excited. Season 2 is set to release sometime in 2025. Following the plot of “Sea of Monsters”, season two has Percy embarking on a new journey to restore Camp Half-Blood’s dissolving borders.
Five new actors have been added to the cast for the upcoming season. Daniel Diemer has been cast as the cyclops half-brother of Percy Jackson, Tyson. Daniel Diemer is a 28-year-old Canadian and has been in several other productions such as The Half of It, Little Brother, Thug, and Under the Bridge.
He’s been a fan of the book since he was 10 years old and said at D23 that he’s excited to be allowed to bring his character to life. Walker Scobell commented on Daniel Diemer’s trident necklace he had owned for three years. Fans on TikTok commented on the official Percy Jackson account commented things such as “They have the same smile”, and “Why is this EXACTLY how I pictured Tyson?”
Joining alongside him are Sandra Bernhard, Kristen Schaal and Margaret Cho, who will be playing the Gray Sisters, a pair of taxi driving sisters who share 1 eye and tooth. Sandra Bernhard as Anger, Kristen as Tempest, and Margaret will play as Wasp. There is also excitement over the actor Kristen Schaal being the same actor who played Mabel in the hit show “Gravity Falls”. As for Sandra Bernhard, she’s a comedian and has been on the show “POSE”, a popular FX television/Ryan Murphy show, and she’s also played Masha in “The King of Comedy” film. Cho Maragaret was in shows such as “Drop Dead Diva”, and season 11 of Dancing with the stars. She also released a comedy music album titled “Cho Dependent” in 2010.
Tomothy Simmons has been cast to play Tantalus. Tantalus is a selfish demi-god out for his own good. He has been cursed to feel eternal hunger and thirst and is brought out of the underworld to take the place of Dionysus as Activities Director at Camp Half-blood, due to him being suspected of working with the enemy, Kronos. His previous role as Jonah Ryan on the HBO show “Veep” makes him a near perfect fit for the character. In the role of Jonah Ryan, Timothy Simmons plays the role of a narcissistic man who only does things if they grow his personal and political gain. TikTok users have been commenting different variations of the same sentence “The casting ate, though his character didn’t.”
Hopes are high for the second season, and with so many being supportive of the cast choices, it’s expected to be just as exciting as the first.
