Although fall in Florida is almost unnoticeable due to the heat and well, no big change in scenery, you can still enjoy it. The fall season is all about the color orange, Halloween, and PSL’s (pumpkin spice lattes). Sure, we do miss out on the cold weather and leaves changing color, but we do have our own way of indulging in the fall season. So, why think you’re missing out on fall just because you’re in Florida? Here is how you can make the best of the Florida fall season.
The first thing you have to do is buy a PSL. Iced or hot (iced is recommended), it does not matter; this is crucial to put yourself in the fall mood. After paying a little too much for a pumpkin flavored coffee, take your first sip and really enjoy it, savor it, be one with the pumpkin. Now since you’ve already started, you must go all pumpkin. Pumpkin cookies, brownies, cake, bread, ice-cream, etc. If you close your eyes while consuming various pumpkin products you can almost gaslight yourself into believing it’s below 70 degrees out.
After going pumpkin crazy, you have to settle down and watch a horror movie. Now, some may say horror movies are more of a Halloween thing rather than a fall season thing, but I digress. Some safe options include Edward Scissorhands, the Scream franchise, and A Nightmare on Elm Street. If you want to go a little scarier you can try The Conjuring, The Shining, or if you really want to sleep with the lights on, any one of the Saw movies will do. Putting on a scary movie is sure to put you in that frightened-ready-to-enjoy-fall mood as long as you do it in a cold air-conditioned room.
Overall, enjoying fall in Florida is all about the fall flavored items and slight, very slight, change in temperature outside. Sure, other states have cool leaves on their trees and are cold enough to actually need a thick jacket, but what other state can go to the beach during October and make it seem normal? Florida can! So, embrace Florida fall season, eat that pumpkin, feel that imaginary breeze, and go to the beach with your PSL!
