OCSA’s Student Government Association hosted their homecoming spirit week. All students, from every major and grade, were welcome to join in on the dressing up and showing out. Spirit week began, Monday, September 23, and will continued until Wednesday, September 25.
Monday’s theme started strong with Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. It was inspired by an 80s movie, encouraging everyone to wear their best 80s outfits. Tuesday, everyone was invited to dress up as their favorite celebrity for Celebrity Day. Additionally, Wednesday was Adam Sandler vs. Met Gala bringing forward a friendly fashion rivalry between the famous American actor, Adam Sandler’s staple basketball shorts paired with an oversized t-shirt, against the extravagant Met Gala looks.
The funds made from the dress down are going towards the decorations for the Homecoming dance. It will be used to pay back all that was spent this year, and any remainder money will go towards next year’s budget. SGA is only in charge of the decorations and have no part in music, tickets, guests, homecoming court, or concessions.
SGA Treasurer, Hailey Marjason, expressed in an interview, “I hope the student body as a whole is very excited for this. SGA has worked so hard these past 2 months to make this possible. We wanted to improve our homecoming for students and make this the memorable event it is elsewhere. Without their hard work, this wouldn’t be possible.” She is very excited to bring this week to OCSA students and can’t wait to see everyone’s interpretations of the themes. She encourages all to follow @OCSASGA on Instagram for more updates and information.
Thank you to those who dressed up and showed out! This week was made to have fun with the creative themes and dress like someone out of Hollywood.
