Living in Florida comes with its ever-changing weather. In the morning, you could have clear and sunny skies followed by an almost 50% guarantee of an afternoon thunderstorm. These constant changes only become more intense when entering hurricane season. Or as most Floridians know it as, “Hurricane Party Season.”
A “Hurricane Party” is a party where a group of people get together and hunker down away from the storm, while enjoying each other’s company. Typically, the host will download plenty of movies or TV shows for the group to watch. In case of the power going out, the host should have a good amount of board games or card games on hand. There should be many pillows and blankets at the function, in case the winds get strong, and you have to hide in a corner.
The guests, on the other hand, bring other hurricane supplies. This includes toilet paper, water jugs, flashlights, garbage bags, and plenty of food. If a guest plans on bringing food, they should keep in mind that there is always the possibility that you can lose power. Be sure that food you bring are non-perishable. This includes chips, peanut butter, granola bars, beef jerky, chocolate, along with plenty of canned goods.
Be sure to lock your windows, and stock up your pantries. You’re in for a wild, stormy ride!
