As we move into quarter two, it’s important to remember to stay motivated. Whether or not you’re in high school, grades still matter. Although, I understand it can be difficult to keep yourself from burning out. So, here are some things to keep in mind as we reach the end up the semester.
Seasonal depression is a thing. As it starts to get colder and rainier, we may feel a little bit gloomy. Although, it’s still important to get out and get some fresh air. Exercise is also a very good thing. Even if it’s just going out for a stroll or a jog. In the words of Ms. Elle Woods of Legally Blonde, “Exercise gives you endorphins, and endorphins make you happy.” The more you exercise, the happier you will be. I try to go to the gym at least three times a week in order to get my adrenaline going. Something I found that helps me is to work out before I need to do any major assignment. With the leftover adrenaline, I can easily grind out those assignments I’ve been procrastinating along with those easy household chores I just didn’t want to do.
If you have trouble with your time management, consider investing in a calendar. Not only is it efficient, but your brain is actually more likely to remember your schedule if you write it down. Even if you have a small journal and a pen, you can write out a to-do list of your daily tasks. This also helps you keep track of important deadlines and assignments so that way you can schedule your extracurriculars accordingly.
Overall, just remember to not give up. Your willpower is the one of your most powerful tools, be sure to make good use of it. Good luck!
