Donald Trump’s inauguration took place Monday January 20th, 2025. The president took the oath of office administered by Chief Justice John Roberts. President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, Mike Pence, all members of the Supreme Court, congressional leadership, family members and others all attended the ceremony.
The CEOs of the nation’s largest technology companies, including Elon Musk, owner of X and Tesla, Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, and Mark Zuckerberg, who started Facebook, were all invited by Trump to attend as well.
Donald Trump has signed a multitude of executive actions, revoking 78 of Bidens policies so far.
His main focuses were, eliminating illegal immigration amongst other concerns, and bringing respect back to America. He says in his inauguration address, “The Golden Age of America begins right now. From this day forward, our country will flourish and be respected again all over the world.” (usatoday). He expresses his need to put America first thoroughly all throughout his address.
Trump has made plan to withdrawal the US from the Paris Climate Agreement and World Health Organization. Reason being, “…public health system that does not deliver in times of disaster, yet more money is spent on it than any country anywhere in the world.”(usatoday).
- The Paris Climate Agreement states it’s goal to be, ” to hold ‘the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels” and pursue efforts “to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.’,”(unfccc.int).
- The World Health Organization, “…helps protect the health and security of the world’s people, receives about a fifth of its budget from the US”(msn).
Trump has pardoned and/or commuted the sentences of many of the 2021 January rioters of the attack on the Capitol. 2 of those people were leaders of The Proud Boys and The Oath Keepers.
- The Proud Boys, “…neofascist white nationalist organization established in the United States in 2016. The group’s members were noted for their misogynistic and anti-Semitic rhetoric, Q-Anon-related beliefs, their support for U.S. Pres. Donald Trump, and their propensity for street violence,” (Britannica).
- The Oath Keepers, “… far-right American militia group that adheres to a conspiracy-focused, antigovernment worldview,”(Britannica).
Trump has mapped out his plans for his four years in office, alongside the executive actions he plans to take now that he has assumed presidency.
