As the 2024 Election has come and gone, and Donald J Trump has been elected, many people have questions as to what his policies will be regarding immigration. Especially since immigration was a central focus of his campaign. The new administration’s immigration policies seem to be not only stopping illegal migration but restricting legal immigration as well. He also plans to speed up the removal of illegal immigrants already in the states, proposing revisions to the current laws around birthright citizenship in the U.S.
Trump has been planning since before his inauguration to immediately start deporting illegal immigrants however it has been unclear how he would go about it. Many have speculated he would begin by speeding up current immigration lawsuits as well as remove arrested illegal immigration in jail or prison. There are also plans to reinstate his remain in Mexico policy, the policy requires Mexican immigrants who are seeking asylum to stay in Mexico till their immigration court date. He also claimed he would begin removing people the day of his inauguration, however that day came and went with no results.
Only time will tell what will actually come to be during this era of Donald Trump’s presidency, but we’ll make sure to keep you updated with any changes.
