While not the historic rival of the Chief’s like the Oakland Raiders or the Denver Broncos, the Philadelphia Eagles have started to make a name for themselves as a new powerhouse in the league. The Chiefs, led by quarterback Patrick Mahomes, have recently gone 15-2-0 this season, positioning them again for a spot in the Superbowl, Superbowl 59. The Eagles, eager to redeem themselves from their 2023 loss at Superbowl 57, have followed Jalen Hurts to go 14-3-0, beating the Commanders 55-23 for a big win.
After the retirement of Tom Brady from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have succeeded his spot to become one of the top teams in the league, winning Superbowl 58 and 57 back-to-back. Such success has started to draw attention to the team, however, as many are starting to accuse the Chiefs of being cheaters, saying that they “bought the refs”. This obviously raises many questions on both sides, but after the events of Superbowl 59 last night, that doesn’t matter.
The Eagles, led by Superbowl MVP Jalen Hurts, beat the long-standing dynasty that was the Chiefs in a rather surprising victory. The Chiefs, held scoreless by the Eagles for the first two halves, made the Superbowl a bit more reminiscent of a Week 1 game rather than the Superbowl. But nevertheless, the Chiefs started to pose a comeback after half time, led by multi-Grammy Award winning legend Kendrick Lamar, winning 6 points in the third quarter. In the 4th quarter, the Chiefs tried their hardest for a comeback, gaining 16 points, but ultimately it wasn’t enough to start the Eagles. After gaining 10 points in the 3rd quarter and 6 in the 4th quarter, the Eagles beat the Chiefs and won Superbowl 59 40-22.
