Donald Trump has issued a long list of Executive Orders, here are the most focused on recently:
- Two executive orders dealing with technology. “The order is intended to ‘certain existing AI policies and directives that act as barriers to American AI innovation.’,”(Newsweek).
- An order designating Ansar Allah, commonly known as the Houthis, as a foreign terrorist organization. The order says that the U.S. will work with allies “to eliminate Ansar Allah’s capabilities and operations, deprive it of resources, and thereby end its attacks on U.S. personnel and civilians, U.S. partners, and maritime shipping in the Red Sea.”.
- An executive order seeking to end birthright citizenship. The order may face legal challenges, since birthright citizenship is enshrined in the U.S. Constitution.
- An order designating Mexican drug cartels and some other organizations to be foreign terrorist organizations.
- Declared a national emergency at the southern border, allowing Trump to use federal funding to construct a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border without congressional approval.
- Trump fulfilled his campaign promise to impose steep tariffs on countries like Canada and Mexico, saying that as of February 1, there will be a 25 percent tariff on imports from both countries.
- He postponed the ban of social media app TikTok.
- “Trump said his administration will use ‘clear and accurate language and policies that recognize women are biologically female, and men are biologically male.’,”(Newsweek).
- An order to rename the “Gulf of Mexico” as “The Gulf of America”.
Although many more orders were issued, these are the ones people are focusing on the greatest.
