The recent trailer drop for Amazon’s “The Bondsman” is adding extra anticipation for the show’s April 3 debut (releasing all eight episodes at once). It features Kevin Bacon who returns to television after Showtime’s “City on a Hill” ended in 2022.
In “The Bondsman,” Bacon plays bounty hunter Hub Halloran. After being murdered and resurrected by the Devil, Halloran must now hunt down and recapture demons who have escaped hell. Midge, played by Jolene Purdy, recruits Halloran to hunt the demonic criminals and warns him in the trailer, “If you fail to process any demons assigned to you, you will be terminated.”
While chasing demons with an arsenal of weapons, including the help of his estranged family, Halloran gains a deeper understanding of how his sins destined him to a doomed afterlife. The show’s logline also teases a second chance at love and a nearly forgotten music career for Halloran.
After speaking with Deadline, Bacon said fans can expect a “laugh-out-loud funny, hilarious, blood-soaked demon-hunting ride.”
“The Bondsman” also features Jennifer Nettles, Damon Herriman, Beth Grant and Maxwell Jenkins. The studios involved in the creation of the show are Blumhouse Television, Marker 96, CrimeThink Production Company, and Amazon MGM Studios.
Gracie Boyle for Who magazine writes, “we didn’t know that doing a deal with the devil to kickstart your failed career as a country music star was a story that we needed, but after watching the first trailer of The Bondsman, consider us obsessed.” Many online fans share the same sentiment, eagerly awaiting the release of the short, action-packed redemption story.
