Epic Universe, the newest addition to the Universal Orlando Resort property, has broken the internet with its upcoming opening on May 22, 2025.
Being the first theme park to open since Universal’s Island of Adventures in May 28, 1999, Epic Universe is surely to bring thousands of tourists into the Central Florida area. Having five different ‘worlds’ within the parks, the theme park has something for everyone to enjoy. Epic Universe is home to Super Nintendo World, Dark Universe, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk, and Celestial Park. Each of the worlds surround Celestial Park – the world between worlds – to form an overall circular outline for the park. Epic Universe has tons to see, ride and eat, so it would be impossible to cover it all after only a couple visits. Therefore, we are going to be focusing on strictly attraction ratings, ranking each ride from most to least epic.

8. Yoshi’s Adventure
Yoshi’s Adventure is right at the heart of Super Nintendo World and the perfect ride for little kids. Similar to Disney’s People Mover ride in Magic Kingdom, it’s a slow moving conveyor belt ride that allows you to take in the surroundings around you. Yoshi’s lays throughout Super Nintendo World, showing you spectacular views of the park as you help toad hunt around for Yoshi’s eggs.
7. Dragon’s Racer Rally
This ride is in How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk right next to one of Epic’s viral venues: Hooligan’s Grog and Gruel. This ride operates as a swing-around attraction, meaning that guests sit down on one end of a cylinder as they spin in diagonal, spinning motions. This ride was honestly very anticlimactic, as I thought we would be able to have more control over our ‘dragon’. I thought I would feel more of a drop as well as dizzy from the attraction, especially with how wildly is seems to look from the outside. If you are not much of a thrill person, though, I definitely recommend this ride because although you are being hoisted in the air, its a very steady ride with no surprise factor.
6. Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge
Like most people in this day and age, I have grown up playing within the Mario Universe. Nintendo has formed its way into common pop culture this way, regardless of the era you were exposed to. I, however, was exposed to specifically the ‘Mario Kart’ era of the Mario games. Mario Kart is a multi-player racing game where you can choose your own Mario Kart and Mario character to play as when competing against other racers. Here, guests step into their own Mario Kart and are instructed to put on VR (virtual reality) visors to complete the experience. You then ‘drive’ through a pre-determined track as if you were in a real Mario Kart race. During the queue, your walk through Bowser’s castle and factory. The ride itself was very standard for me, with very little surprise and thrill factors. The visuals and attention to detail within the line and ride are very impressive though. They have gotten everything accurate as to how players would imagine a big-scale version of the game should be. For a humongous Mario fan, this would be a dream come true.
5. Mine-Cart Madness
This ride had the longest wait time every time I went into the park. Part of that was due to the popularity of the attraction, but also because of its tendency to delay. It’s very well themed and true to the plot of Donkey Kong. Within the line and the surrounding area of the ride, you really feel like you were transported from Mario Land to a tropical paradise. This is a less-intense roller coaster, although you will shake a lot. I liked it, but would not wait more than an hour for the ride.
4. Hiccups Wing Gliders
This ride is personally one of my top three rides. It has everything from adorable theming to thrills, but it’s still a tolerable roller coaster. The views of Berk from the ride are some of the best around and you literally ride through the world. Hiccup and Toothless even make an appearance within the ride. This is definitely one of my favorites on Universal property and I’m sure its soon to be a fan favorite as well.
3. Curse of the werewolf
Curse of the Werewolf is one of the two rides found in Dark Universe. It is a high-thrill rollercoaster that have seats that spin around according to the weight on your cart. The aesthetic of the line was very captivating and in character to the ride itself. The duration of the attraction is extremely fast, which makes the line go by a lot faster than other rides. I will say that the ride is a lot better at night, but regardless of the time of day the ride is very good to ride on.
2. Monsters Unchained: the Frankenstein Experiment
Behind all the hype of this ride, i was skeptical to see how good this ride really was. I personally, am not a big horror person. I skip every Halloween Horror Nights and every scary movie to come out. This ride however, has the right amount of spook and thrill factor to ask for. The animatronics and ride movements of this attraction were smooth and impeccable. The queue was as unsettling as you would expect, prompting a seven year old girl to cry next to me in line. The structure of the ride is a type of ‘Forbidden Journey’ line up, with the animatronics just inches away from you. Hearing all the screams and laughs from the carts around you, this ride is definitely not one to miss.
1. Stardust Racers
This was my favorite ride of all. Given that I’ve only experienced the rollercoasters in Universal and Disney World, I have yet to wonder onto other reputable theme parks such as SeaWorld and Busch Gardens. But out of all the rollercoasters I’ve experienced this is my favorite of all. BEing held by just a lap bar, this coaster goes at an amazing speed through multiple drops and turns. It has an amazing G-force, corkscrews and loops. They also have a great Back to the Future reference, which the flux capacitor added to the back of some of the carts.
Epic Universe is truly a unique experience to withhold and something that I believe everyone should try once. With this specific order, I believe that this is how you can truly make your theme park day epic.
