Kellogg’s released Pop-Tarts Ice Cream Sandwiches on May 10th. The new product comes in three flavors: Frosted Strawberry, Frosted Chocolate Fudge, and Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon. They come with ice cream and two similarly flavored pop-tarts that hold the ice cream sandwich together. According to Melanie Curry, writer for Delish, “Frosted Brown Sugar Cinnamon, Frosted Strawberry, and Frosted S’mores will be available later this summer in pints.” They’re currently available at any Walmart in the U.S. and are $7.59 a box for 4 of them.
Carmen Varner, writer for The Tasting Table, decided to try them. According to her, they are smaller than the regular, often toasted Pop-Tart. Though tinier, it makes for better convenience to eat the ice cream sandwich. It also comes in foil packaging.
This is not the first time Pop-Tarts has released ice cream sandwiches but is the first time more than one flavor was available in more than 1 place. In 2013, there was a hand-scooped Ice Cream Sandwich that Carl’s Jr partnered up with Pop-Tarts to sell. It had two periods where it was available at any Carl Jr. in the U.S. in 2012 and 2013. For anyone who wants to make their own version of a Pop-Tart sandwich, Kellogg’s has released a recipe for Pop-Tart ice cream sandwiches.
Unlike the Carl’s Jr. Pop-Tart ice cream sandwich, it appears the most recent release are here to stay with many eagerly awaiting new flavors.
