As we kick off our show season for the 2025-2026 school year, we open with a tale of the dangers of scientific exploration: Frankenstein! Co-directed by Cal Amiss and Zamare Stone, we’re led through the story of Victor Frankenstein and his tragic tale following the events of an experiment gone horribly wrong. Tickets are on sale on MySchoolBucks for $10, and performances will be held in the blackbox on September 18th and 19th.
The preparation for cast and crew has been incredibly quick, but also incredibly efficient. Within just 3 weeks, Amiss and Stone have managed to host auditions and callbacks, make the cast list, and block the entirety of the show. As tech week approaches, the actors wait in anticipation to share their talents with the audience.
Viewers hoping for a happy tale, beware: Frankenstein serves as a reminder that if you go against the natural order of life, it will go against you. When asked what audiences should take away from this show, Miranda Mendivil, who plays Willa Frankenstein, responded that the core of Frankenstein is “…To know your limits when playing with life and death.”
Despite the many adaptations, there are very few works that hold true to Mary Shelley’s original piece. To combat this, Cal Amiss chose the Austin Tichenor’s adaptation in order to keep the “…amalgamation of the book and the aesthetics of the movies. That’s what I feel makes it different. It keeps the lessons and topics that were so crucial to the book and makes it recognizable to the audience in a format that reminds them of the gothic horror movies that were so popular.”
The blackbox has limited seating, so be sure to get your tickets soon!
