The remains of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez were found in the trunk of 20-year-old singer and songwriter d4vd’s Tesla. The County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s office were the ones who identified her, but her cause of death was deferred, and her time of death is still unknown. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that she was a missing person from Lake Elsinore, last seen on April 5, 2024, at 9 p.m.
D4vd’s Tesla was impounded while he was on tour, and later it was reported as abandoned by a neighbor who claimed the car “just smelled like sewage,” likely due to the decomposing corpse. The car was impounded on September 8th, when its registration was traced to David Anthony Burke, who uses the stage name “d4vd”.
Neighbors reported that Rivas had a boyfriend named David with whom she had matching tattoos. The medical examiner confirmed that she had a tattoo that read “Shhh” on her index finger, matching the singer’s tattoo.
Rivas’ mother also confirmed that she was in a relationship with a boy named David at the time of her death, and a picture of her and David together has begun circulating around the internet. Although it has not been revealed how long she had been dead for, officials say that “she appears to have been deceased inside the vehicle for an extended period of time before being found.”
TMZ also claims that in 2023 a song by the title “Celeste” by D4vd was leaked and, due to its title and lyrics, has been traced as a potential connection to this case. As the case goes on, screenshots from online platforms such as Discord have been showing accounts that supposedly belong to the singer, making mentions of or interactions with Celeste.
Currently, no arrests have been made.
