The fashion world and movie buffs alike were treated to a rare spectacle when actors Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci made an appearance at the Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2026 show at Milan Fashion Week on Saturday, September 27. Their presence wasn’t merely as celebrity attendees; the duo was actively filming scenes for the highly anticipated sequel, The Devil Wears Prada 2.
Streep, 76, and Tucci, 64, were reportedly in character as their beloved roles, Miranda Priestly, the formidable editor-in-chief of Runway magazine, and Nigel Kipling, the art director. They were spotted seated front row at the show, reinforcing the sequel’s commitment to fashion authenticity. Streep, in full Miranda Priestly mode, wore a sophisticated ensemble, including a camel-colored trench coat, black pants, and her character’s signature cropped white-gray hair and sunglasses. Tucci was dressed in a black shirt, gray waistcoat, and tailored pants, in keeping with Nigel’s style.
The appearance confirms that filming for the sequel, which began principal photography in New York City this summer, is taking the fictional Runway magazine’s influence international. Joining them at the show was co-star Simone Ashley, who is rumored to be playing Miranda’s new assistant.
In one of the most meta moments of the event, Streep, as Miranda Priestly, had a face-to-face meeting with Anna Wintour, the former Vogue Editor-in-Chief who famously inspired the character. The two shared a hug and a brief chat backstage, with a video of the “collision” posted on Vogue‘s Instagram. Streep, breaking character for a moment, reportedly told Wintour, “This is my first fashion show. Not kidding. My first.”
The Devil Wears Prada 2 has all the original main stars returning, including Anne Hathaway as Andrea “Andy” Sachs and Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton. The film’s plot will reportedly follow Priestly as she manages her career amidst the decline of traditional magazine publishing and faces off against Blunt’s character, who is now a high-powered executive for a luxury group whose advertising dollars Priestly desperately needs.
The Milan Fashion Week appearance serves as a major signal that the sequel intends to fully immerse itself in the elite world of high fashion, much like the original 2006 film. The Devil Wears Prada 2 is currently slated for release on May 1, 2026.
