Khan Academy is a very multifaceted application that students can use to learn various skills in and outside the classroom. Teachers often assign things through Khan Academy, but besides that, many students find that they can learn lots of useful things on their own, using Khan Academy.
The non-profit organization helps provide personalized learning for many different subjects. But as of the new 2025-2026 school year, there are a few new features of the program known as khan academy.
Khan Academy has introduced New Courses Launch for the 2024 School Year in STEM, Humanities, Computer Science, and has added updates to certain aspects of some pre-existing courses.
- Science Courses: There have been new science middle school courses that have been introduced, and they serve as additions to some high school courses launched previously in 2025. These include Middle School Chemistry and Middle School Physics. They have a few other resources which include hands-on science courses and teacher resources, particularly for Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).
- Computer Science: There have been updates to the intro to Computer Science course. Specifically, there have been a few new units added.
- Financial Literacy: The Content in the Financial Literacy courses has been expanded to include more real-world resources.
- Social Studies: There have been updates to the AP/College level United States Government and Politics as well as AP/ College level United States History courses. They now include some more recent events such as court cases that occurred over the past five years.
- Test Prep: There is now a “Get Ready for SAT Prep: Reading and Writing” course meant for middle school-aged students, 9th and 10th graders who want to prepare ahead of time to learn the essential skills needed to succeed on the SAT by 11th grade.
These are some of the resources that have been added over the past few months, as was updated this August.
Moreover, according to the Khan Academy Help Desk, “We’ll update this page with links to the courses and community announcements as they are published, so be sure to check back regularly!” As classes evolve, the resources people use are changing too. So, it is important to be aware of these changes.
