Coming out of 7 years on break, the Christmas queen is making a sugar sweet comeback in her new album, “Here For It All” on September 26, 2025. The album is a twist on R&B, leaning into soul and blues as Carey expresses her self-empowerment, relationships, independence and reinvention.
Here are the following songs and their meanings:
- Mi: Deriving from her 2005 album “Emancipation Of Mimi” this song speaks on her identity and self-awareness of her diva lifestyle. In this song she talks about her uniqueness and her big works in the spotlight, she highlights her success in the music industry in the big city heights.
- Play This Song (feat. Anderson. Paak): With a funk-style rhythm this break-up style story unfolds as two individuals are “getting back together” but they’re suffering in silence due to past trauma. The underlining meaning of the song is being able to play a song by yourself, being independent and strong in dealing with this romantically difficult situation
- Type Dangerous: In this action-packed and r&b trap single, Mariah steps on the stage of determination and danger, while looking and feeling glamourous. Released back last summer in June, she explains her search of a dangerous partner, putting her raw ideas of love and thrill in an adventurous relationship. Setting her standards and dodging any nonsense that comes her way this song is accelerating fast on the charts
- Sugar Sweet (feat. Shenseea & Kehlani): She’s keeping it sugar sweet with this slow upbeat anthem of female empowerment. In this song Mariah describes the sweet effort she puts into the protagonist (a man) by expressing her feelings and motives of reaching a completed moment
- In Your Feelings: Flowing with heartbreak and pain she pours out her feelings about someone who did her wrong. She mentions a detachment with the other person and the breakdown of watching this person leave her. This person is “in their feelings” as they lie and break promises to her, and it took and emotional toll.
- Nothing Is Impossible: In this renewing song Mariah tells her story of struggle and redemption. In the beginning she reveals how she was distant and alone, but then throughout the song she talks about this spirit within her. Claiming that she will still be standing and unstoppable with the motivation from herself.
- Confetti & Champange: Shine the lights and sound the music, this song is dedicated to the celebration of her. She’s marking the point of her peak life of being surrounded by her friends and her lover. Glimmering in the spotlight, cheers to that
- I Won’t Allow It: She will not allow them to break her down. In this jiggy diss track where she stands up to a narcissistic figure questioning them of their inevitable struggles. With the lost this person obtained by going against her, Mariah keeps her guard up when dealing with the toxicity from others.
- My Love: A cover of Paul McCartney and Wings classic “My Love” executed in a slow and lovely melody. She sings about relying on her love and having no doubts about giving her heart to them.
- Jesus I Do (feat. The Clark Sisters): In this swaying gospel song Mariah and The Clark Sisters they spread the love of Jesus and movement. Saying “Jesus I Do” she appreciates the power and happiness Jesus has given her when she was at her low times. The help and motivation she also celebrates the feeling of finding a safe place
- Here For It All: Wrapping everything up Mariah states her loyalty to her partner. Helping them through ups and downs and staying regardless of the little bad things. Acknowledging the joys of being alive and walking strong, the holy spirit keeps her moving.
Mariah describes this album as a ballad of music notes. This album marks an era of holding her head up and tackling all of her obstacles and personal problems. She doesn’t lose hope in the darkness, finding the light while staying positive and confident has taken her to great places. Her legacy and longtime success has established a strong reputation in the music industry.
