Trump: Media Can’t (And Won’t) Exist Without Me
September 24, 2018
President Trump has offered the “fake news media” an appealing ultimatum: support him in the 2020 presidential election or burn. Donald Trump’s exact words to the crowd at his Las Vegas rally Thursday night were: “They’re making more money than they’ve ever made because of us. But you know what’s going to happen? About six months after we start, six months before the [2020] election, they’re going to endorse Donald Trump for president. You know why? Because if they don’t, those broadcasting companies, The New York Times, all of those, they are going bankrupt so fast. So they’ll be endorsing us.”
Just as his supporters have boycotted Nike, Nordstrom, Starbucks, Netflix, Pepsi, Nabisco, Macy’s, Amazon, Ben & Jerry’s, Apple, the NFL, AT&T, Hamilton, and Star Wars, they will soon add to the list ‘the free press.’ The President planning on single-handedly bankrupting “the news” is one of the Commander in Chief’s more eccentric ideas.
The New York Times who was most recently trending for their publication of an anonymous op-ed/expose from an insider in the Trump Administration was severely under fire during Trump’s ‘fake-news’ rant. The President stated that “people don’t read” The New York Times anymore because it is “a dishonest newspaper, it’s terrible.” So bad, in fact, that, according to Trump, they issued an apology for their poor coverage of the election. This, of course, did not happen but is a story thrown around by Trump when he feels like toting victories against the media.
Journalists of the corrupt, liberal media are given a choice, then: endorse Trump for re-election, or throw in the pen and pad.
