PSAT/NMSQT and SAT: Study! Study! Study!

On October 10, 2018, the freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors of the Osceola County School for the Arts will be testing. Seniors will be taking the SAT, a major test that colleges will be looking at, while the underclassmen will be taking the PSAT, a test that could possibly earn scholarship opportunities and prepare them for their SAT.

Students should prepare for the test by bringing number 2 pencils, a college board approved calculator, and their student IDs. Extra pencils are recommended just in case of emergencies. Electronics other than a calculator will not be allowed in the testing location. On the day of the test, there will be no early release.

Although testing is often nerve-racking, there is a very efficient way to possibly improve your scores: Khan Academy. According to a study made by Khan Academy’s “20 hours on Khan Academy’s free Official SAT Practice is associated with an average score gain of 115 points.” In 2017 over 16,000 students apart of the class of 2017 increased their scores by an average of 200 points. Practicing on Khan Academy can potentially increase your scores and earn you the National Merit Scholarship.
