Canada: The Largest Legal Marijuana Marketplace
October 18, 2018
Though Canada has had legalized medical marijuana since 2001, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his government worked hard for two years to open the eyes of the public on the positive outlook of marijuana. Wednesday, October 17th will forever go down in history as the day that recreational marijuana was legalized in Canada.
Marijuana aficionados have traveled far and wide to Canada to purchase their first batch of legalized recreational marijuana from now legal dealers, some of which who opened up their own shops. The legal thresh hold for possession of marijuana has now risen to 30 grams for people over the age of 18. A 46-year-old was proud to say marijuana is legalized, “I can’t believe we did it. All the years of activism paid off. Cannabis is legal in Canada and everyone should come to Canada and enjoy our cannabis.”
There are now about 111 legal shops in Canada expected open to 37 million people.
