Apple Expansion Under Way

Apple has announced plans to make a $1 billion dollar expansion in Austin, Texas. This expansion is estimated to produce over 20,000 jobs by the year 2023.

Initially, Apple expects to generate at least 5,000 jobs, later increasing to 15,000 jobs. The $1 billion will be going directly towards the development of the new Austin campus, however, additional funds will be put into opening new offices in Seattle, Santiago, and Culver City California. Over the next three years Apple plans to expand operations in Pittsburg, New York, and Boulder, Colorado.

The campus will be an overwhelming 133 acre campus. Jobs in engineering, research and development, operations, finance sales, and customer support positions will all be offered. As of now there are already 6,000 employees working in Austin. In January, Apple committed to making a $350 billion investment in the US economy. This announcement is just a small part of the spending.

Both Texas Governor Greg Abbot and Mayor Steve Adler were very pleased by the announcement.
